There are 5 reasons why a beach lifestyle is better for you. A day spent snorkeling along a reef and soaking up rays beside turquoise-blue waters leaves you blissfully happy. You feel relaxed, rejuvenated, and cheerful. Scientific evidence proves that even a small dose of sun, sea, and sand is marvelous for your health. Those who live near the beach say life is just way better. Here’s why.
1. A Beach Lifestyle Means Good Health
A beach lifestyle contributes to good health. Vitamin D is produced by the skin when exposed to sunlight. It’s dubbed the ‘sunshine vitamin’ and contributes to strong bones, a healthy immune system, glowing skin, and good mental health. Having a sandy beach bum means you’re spending more time on the beach and less time at the doctor’s office.
2. A Beach Lifestyle is Beach Therapy
A beach lifestyle becomes a natural therapy. It’s also been scientifically proven that lounging on a beach and swimming in the ocean has healing powers. After a day at the beach, you feel refreshed and healthy. Sea salt heals. The eating of seaweed and algae infuse your body with powerful antioxidants that promote healing. A day at the beach smiling at all the beauty around you means less time at the therapist’s office.
3. A Beach Lifestyle is a Stress-free Lifestyle
A beach lifestyle is a stress-free lifestyle. When you feel you’ve come undone and broken down emotionally, head to the beach. There’s no better place to unplug and let go than lying atop sugary sands beneath blue skies and sunshine. When you visit the beach, ditch your devices and become aware of your surroundings. Tune in. Listen to the song of the palm trees and waves lapping on the shore. Your soul will be restored when you leave.
4. Daily Workouts are Easier in a Beach Lifestyle
A beach style means daily workouts are easier. For me, nothing is more boring than a gym. I need the great outdoors for my morning workout sessions. Burning calories on my beach run followed by a swim in the ocean are way more exciting than pumping weights inside a building. A wee bit afraid of the water? Just floating around in the shallows close to shore can burn 200 calories. In clear water, you can see happy fish swimming around you, so no denizens of the sea can sneak up on you either. Finally, ditch the treadmill and TV. If you’re lucky enough to live by the beach, exercise is as spontaneous as taking a dip with your love in front of a setting sun.
5. Your Soul Sings in a Beach Lifestyle
A beach lifestyle makes your soul sing. Dr. Matthew White, an environmental psychologist at Exeter, England, reported that “when you place a person in a beach environment that people relax and become healthier over a period of time.” In addition, increased sun exposure has a positive effect on stress, sleep, and appetite. When immersed in the natural beauty of the beach, problems seem to melt away, leaving you more positive and cheerful. Life becomes less overwhelming and you return home a happier you.
